Biodec was engaged to investigate mould concerns in a Kingscliff short-term rental, initially reported within the ensuite. During our assessment, we identified clear signs of mould growth and water damage, prompting further testing.
Moisture readings confirmed active water ingress, and the issue was found to extend beyond the bathroom into the adjoining bedroom wardrobe, where visible mould was also present. To fully understand the extent of the damage, we removed a section of the bathroom ceiling plasterboard—revealing significant hidden mould contamination within the cavity.
Given the spread, both the ensuite and the affected wardrobe areas required full removal of contaminated materials. Our team carried out remediation in line with IICRC S520 standards, ensuring all impacted surfaces were properly treated and
cleaned. The area was then thoroughly dried to eliminate residual moisture and prevent recurrence.
Following successful remediation, the builders completed the reinstatement of the bathroom, restoring it to a high standard while maintaining the property’s original aesthetic.
